DC Divas Tackling Hunger

By Molly McGlinchy June 7, 2012

Over the past four years, Dr. Solano of Solano Spine & Sport Chiropractic, has hosted an annual food and funds drive benefiting the Capital Area Food Bank during the holiday season. This year, he decided to increase his support for the food bank and tackle hunger in a different way! As a member of the Sports Medicine Team that provides services for the DC Divas, an all-woman Tackle Pro Football Team, Dr. Solano coordinated a large-scale food drive that will take place this Saturday, June 9th at 6 PM during the Divas last home game of the year against the Boston Militia. The game will take place at the Diva’s home field, the PG Sports and Learning Complex.
After a loss to the Militia in May, the Divas will be looking for retribution. It won’t be easy though. Boston is on a 6-0 tear. The Divas will need a big game out of Kenyetta Grigsby, Okiima Pickett and Ashley Whisonant. They will also have to figure out a way to tame Boston’s Allison Cahill and Whitney Zelee, who have been lighting up the boards all season.
But they need your help to do it. Come out and support the 2011 Northeast Division Champions this weekend as they look to dismantle the Militia. The Divas invite all fans to bring nonperishable food donations to the game, so don’t forget your canned goods this Saturday! Collection bins will be located at the entrances to the field.
