Addressing Child Hunger With Weekend Bags | Capital Area Food Bank

Learn about our Weekend Bags program that sends kids home with nutritious food for the weekend.

Bridging the gap

The Weekend Bags program bridges the long gap between Friday and Monday faced by kids ages 5 to 18 years old who rely on their school food programs for meals. Each week, we supply our partners at community centers, schools, churches, Boys & Girls Clubs, Parks & Recreations sites, and other locations with bags of nutritious, kid-friendly food to send children home with. When their food needs are met over the weekend, kids can focus on growing, learning, and playing, rather than on where their next meal will come from.
