Partner agencies have multiple ways to obtain food from the food bank to distribute to their patrons.
Partner agencies stock their pantry shelves and develop their community kitchen recipes using food bank ingredients. Food is distributed through different mechanisms including an online menu, a fully stocked agency market, and partner participation in specialized programs, including:
The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) provides commodity food at no cost to partners, greatly increasing their distribution capability.
Partner Direct connects partner agencies to local food donors, including grocers and other retailers, when the food bank is unable to make direct pick-ups.
The Fresh Produce Grant is a farm share partnership between the food bank and Clagett Farm in Upper Marlboro, MD. Recipient partner agencies receive seasonal fresh produce and nutrition education for their agencies during the growing season.
