Cooking Matters™ Comes to You

By Chris von Spiegelfeld November 14, 2012

Are you passionate about providing your community with the knowledge and skills to prepare healthy meals? Do you have a community space where you would love to host cooking classes? If you answered “yes” to either of these questions, then consider applying to be one of the Capital Area Food Bank’s winter 2013 Cooking Matters sites!
Cooking Matters™ is a groundbreaking nutrition education program that teaches low-income families how to prepare healthy, tasty and budget-friendly meals. Local chefs and nutrition experts volunteer their time to lead hands-on courses that teach adults, teens, kids and childcare providers how to get the most nutritional value on a limited budget.
The food bank is currently accepting applications to host Cooking Matters courses from January 1 through March 31, 2013. Priority will be given to sites that have a dedicated on-site coordinator, scheduling flexibility, the ability to recruit participants and volunteers, adequate demonstration space, and related programs and services.
Does this apply to your organization? Check out the details and apply to be a host site by November 30, or email cookingmatters@capitalareafoodbank.org for more information.
