Get Ready to Skip Lunch

By Anne-Lise Cossart August 17, 2012

Have you tasted Bobby’s Burger Palace’s divine Crunchburger? Or are you looking to venture out to Maple, DC’s new Italian, five-star restaurant? You can get the opportunity to dine at new neighborhood restaurants while helping to feed families struggling with hunger.
Beginning September 1st and ending September 12th, the Capital Area Food Bank will host its annual Skip Lunch Feed A Bunch campaign, in which individuals team up to donate what they would normally spend on lunch and compete to be the highest contributing team. The top five earning teams raising over $500 will receive gift certificates to local restaurants. More importantly, the funds collected will help ensure that all families, children and seniors in the Washington metro area can sit down daily to three quality meals.
So gather your colleagues, classmates, neighbors or friends and create a team today! It’s simple and easy. If you are interested in participating in Skip Lunch Feed A Bunch but have questions, email events@capitalareafoodbank.org.
With just one dollar, the food bank can provide three meals. So join us and Skip Lunch to Feed a Bunch. Since September is Hunger Action Month, donations will be accepted throughout the month of September.
