What do you get when you mix technology, food and putt-putt golf? An innovative way to combine a team-building exercise and a food donation!
TE Connectivity, a technology company designing energy and data solutions, recently held a conference at the Gaylord Convention Center. They wanted to find a way to help residents struggling with hunger so they worked with Impact 4 Good, an organization that coordinates team-building exercises, and identified the Capital Area Food Bank’s Weekend Bag Program.
TE Connectivity ordered over 12,000 items from the food bank’s menu and used them to construct 18 putt-putt holes in their conference center. The impressive putt-putt course constructions were created by TE Connectivity staff, some of whom were engineers. The food items were subsequently donated back to the food bank’s Weekend Bag Program and helped feed 2,000 children.
All of the participants were excited to work, play and learn about hunger in the nation’s capital. Executive Vice President and General Counsel Bob Scott was amazed to hear the number of children that would benefit from the donation.
This was an amazing way for TE Connectivity to support the CAFB’s mission of nourishing those in need.
