The Capital Area Food Bank joined forces with Neiman Marcus the evening of March 8 for a denim fashion show to highlight the food bank’s 9th Annual Blue Jeans Ball scheduled for April 22 at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel. We took over the third floor of the Neiman Marcus Mazza Gallerie store where staff, donors, and the general public enjoyed hors d’oeuvres, a fashion show, and some quality time checking out new clothes, shoes and accessories.
It was a great night with an impressive turnout. The evening began with appetizers and champagne. Everyone instantly began mingling and the room was filled with energy. A few guests had given up shopping for Lent, but were making an exception for charity. Proceeds from purchases will help support the Capital Area Food Bank. The fashion show began with welcoming remarks from our President and CEO, Lynn Brantley. She reminded us that food is the essence of life, it rebuilds us every day, words to remember why we do what we do.
The fashion show got underway. Models came out to show off the latest denim and styles available at Neiman Marcus. There were definitely some great pieces to think about for the Blue Jeans Ball. “Color-blocking” was the phrase of the night. Colorful jeans, scarves, and tops were shown. Even shoes demonstrated interesting designs and colors.
From the looks on the runway, this year’s ball is going to very colorful. We had a great time and hope everyone who attended did as well. Thank you to Neiman Marcus for making the event a success and getting us ready for the Blue Jeans Ball. Be sure to register for the ball. We are looking forward to it.
