New England clam chowder.  Vegetarian chili.  Zesty chicken tortilla soup.  The tantalizing smell of dozens of soup kettles wafts through the room.  This is just a sample of what guests will experience at the Capital Area Food Bank’s Annual Empty Bowls event on Wednesday, October 19 at the FHI 360 Conference Center
For a minimum donation of $25, local chefs and restaurants will ladle a variety of soups into guests’ bowls symbolizing the need to fill thousands of empty bowls in our community.  In addition to a lunch of unlimited soup and bread, guests will take home a hand-made bowl created by local artists.
Morton’s, Ris, Corner Bakery, Geppetto Catering, Windows Catering, Teaism, 1st & Fresh, Melting Pot, Firehook and The Best Cookie.com have generously donated soup and dessert for the event.  The food bank’s partner agency Food and Friends will also serve up a delicious soup.
So join us on Wednesday, October 19th anytime between 11:30 AM – 2:30 PM and help us fill the bowls of our neighbors in need.
