Ways to take action during Hunger Action Month

By cafb September 2, 2025

September is Hunger Action Month!

Each September, people across the country join together to raise awareness about hunger and take action to help solve it. In our region, nearly 1.5 million people experienced food insecurity at some point last year. With so many of our communities continuing to experience record levels of need, there’s never been a better – or more important – time to take part.
Here are a few easy ways to take action against hunger this month:
  • Sign up to volunteer. Volunteers are critical to our ability to meet the need in our area. Whether it’s packing boxes in our warehouse or going out to a Community Marketplace, you’ll play an essential role in keeping our neighbors fed. Click here to sign up for a shift.
  • Host a digital food drive. One of the most convenient ways to take action for Hunger Action Month is to engage your community with a digital food drive! It’s an easy and efficient way to bring friends, family, and colleagues together to provide nutritious food for our neighbors without having to manage any of the logistics of collecting canned goods and pantry staples. Get started in 5 easy steps!
  • Provide financial support. CAFB distributed the food for 64 million meals last year. Our generous community has made it possible to keep connecting people in our region with the food they need, even as the costs of food and transportation fluctuate. Donate today to help make a big impact for your neighbors.
