Second Act Volunteer Fellowship

Discover how your expertise can make a lasting impact through a Second Act Volunteer Fellowship.

The Second Act Volunteer Fellowship is designed to provide talented professionals who are currently in career transition, such as layoffs or early retirements, a volunteer opportunity to use their talents as they transition to retirement or other opportunities.

If you have strong, marketable skills and leadership experience, and are looking for meaningful, purpose-driven ways to apply those skills for 6 to 12 months, this program is for you!  We have created a unique opportunity to match people with certain skills sets to projects or strategic priorities across our organization. The type of work will largely be focused on:

  • Accelerating a key project that’s currently under-resourced
  • Serving as a thought partner in an area where strategic thinking is needed
  • Piloting or scale an idea that hasn’t moved forward due to capacity constraints
  • Providing subject matter expertise in a specific operational, policy, or community engagement area

Projects can include:

  • Supporting the senior hunger strategies team with food distribution and client engagement

  • Assisting with van-based enrollments, food box distributions, and voucher programs

  • Analyzing retail recovery networks to improve efficiency and equity in food access

  • Building partner cohorts and creating trainings to strengthen the charitable food network
