The 26th annual Letter Carriers’ Stamp Out Hunger® Food Drive is on Saturday, May 12.
After a winter that has seemed to last forever, spring has finally sprung! But while the warmer weather is great for enjoying the outdoors, it also signals that summer is on its way – a time that when many kids don’t have access to free or reduced priced meals at school and family food budgets are stretched farther than any other point in the year. As a result, the need at pantries increases even as holiday season generosity has tapered.
To help boost food donations during this time, the United States Postal Service will once again be hosting the 26th Annual Stamp Out Hunger food drive. Whatever is on your agenda this weekend, it takes only a moment to help make a big difference for families in need. To participate this Saturday, just leave a bag or two of canned or nonperishable items at your door for your local mail carrier, who will come and pick them up. And if you’d prefer to make your donation in a grocery store and live near a Food Lion, they’ll be accepting donations through May 12.
To make an even bigger impact, get your friends involved, post the link on your social sites, and remind your neighbors. Last year this drive provided enough food for almost 50,000 meals for our neighbors, and this year we can make an even bigger difference together.
