New Volunteer Digs

By Nicole Durant July 31, 2012

The Capital Area Food Bank moved into its new distribution center last week! After six years of hard work, the food bank’s new home is a reality.
Among the many new capabilities, the building boasts a fantastic space dedicated to volunteers. As the food bank prepares to welcome volunteers, past and present, please take a moment to walk through the new space below. Keep in mind that minor construction is still taking place.
As volunteers enter through the designated entrance…

They will be greeted by a volunteer receptionist seated here…

If volunteers have personal belongings, they will be asked to secure them in the lockers designated specifically for volunteers…

Volunteers can proceed to the “breakfast bar” area and store their lunch or snack in the refrigerator. They can even enjoy a cup of coffee while waiting for their assignments…

Volunteers will take a seat at one of the tables in the orientation space…

While waiting, volunteers will have an opportunity to view current food bank happenings on one of the new monitors…

Finally volunteers will receive an orientation before performing their designated duties.
The food bank is excited to move into its new distribution center and ready to host volunteers. Without the dedicated service from volunteers, the food bank would not be able to feed the more than 680,000 residents at risk of hunger in the Washington metro region.
Sign up to volunteer already. We look forward to seeing you.
