The Season of Giving

By Lynn Brantley November 2, 2010

When is the last time you went to bed hungry?  Right here in the Washington metro area, over 200,000 children are going to bed hungry each night.  We are in the midst of very challenging times and the need for the food bank and our partner agencies is greater than ever.

The holiday season is upon us.  We are working hard to ensure that everday, and not just the holidays, are special for our neighbors in need.  Several of our community partners are rallying together and hosting food drives to help us provide meals to the children, families and seniors struggling to get enough food to eat.

WHUR-FM, Giant Food and Suntrust  will host their annual Food2Feed Food Drive on Thursday, November 18th from 6 AM – 6 PM at the Old Post Office Pavillion on 12th and Pennsylvania Avenue.  Donations collected will be used to purchase Giant gift cards and distributed to families for Thanksgiving.

Fox 5, CBS Radio, Giant Food and YRCI will hold their annual Stuff A Truck Food Drive on Friday, December 10 at four participating Giant locations.  The food and funds collected will go directly to the community.

Remember hunger never takes a holiday.  So support us today and give the gift of nourishment.
