Ambassador Volunteers

The Ambassador Volunteer program is an exciting new volunteer program for Capital Area Food Bank. The Ambassador Volunteer program hopes to utilize the skills and talent of our volunteers for more than packing and sorting in our warehouse once and allow them to share their skills with the food bank and the community. Without volunteers the food bank would be unable to distribute food to those in need.  By becoming an Ambassador Volunteer, you can make a greater contribution to our efforts.

What does and Ambassador Volunteer do?

An Ambassador Volunteer would be assigned to help a department within the food bank on a specific assignment.  Please look through the job descriptions for possible assignments.

Is there training?

We would ask before you begin volunteering to attend a comprehensive training and orientation with the department you will volunteer for.  As an ambassador of the food bank, we would like to ensure that you are comfortable to possibly speak to others about the breath of programming at the food bank.

When is the training?

Training and scheduling for volunteer assignments would be handled by the department.  For example, if you were interested in volunteering to help us with site visits, we would put you in contact with the appropriate department. Then the department would schedule a time for you to meet about training on site visits and scheduling those times.

How often do I have to volunteer?

We ask that Ambassador Volunteers make a commitment to volunteer for the food bank regularly, such as once every other month or week.  The time commitment varies depending on the assignment. We will also have a quarterly volunteer newsletter to let you know about events in need of volunteers.
