Urban Demonstration Garden

HOW DOES OUR GARDEN GROW

The Urban Demonstration Garden is a half acre urban farm attached to the Capital Area Food Bank’s DC Warehouse. The garden is designed as a learning laboratory where partner agencies and community members can learn how to grow healthy, nutritious food in the urban environment.

WHY ACCESS TO HEALTHY FOOD

Fresh fruits and vegetables are central to healthy eating and wellness. In the Urban Demonstration Garden, partners, volunteers, staff and donors get their hands in the dirt and experience the simple joy of planting a seed or harvesting a tomato. This tiny action connects them to real world of fresh produce, where daily consumption leads to better health.
