Court-Mandated Volunteer Information

The Capital Area Food Bank accepts court-mandated volunteers Mondays – Saturdays from 10:30am-12pm. We can only accept volunteers with non-violent offenses and all court ordered volunteers must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

All court-ordered volunteers must sign up for an interview with the Volunteer Department prior to volunteering. We offer interviews on Tuesdays from 3:00pm – 4:15 pm and Thursdays from 10:00 -11:15 am. You must sign up for an interview ahead of time by contacting 202-526-5344 ex 241 or volunteer@capitalareafoodbank.org. At the interview, we will discuss our policies & procedures, give an overview of the Capital Area Food Bank, and give instructions for completing your service.

If you are completing court-mandated volunteer service, you cannot to sign up on our online volunteer calendar. You will be able to arrange your schedule at the time of your interview.

If you do not complete an interview or sign up on the online calendar, we will not be able to credit you for your time. At the time of your interview, please bring your court documentation and a photo ID to the interview. If you have any questions, please contact the Volunteer Department.
