Programs & Resources
Capital Area Food Bank Departments & Programs By ensuring access to healthy food, nutrition education, and advocacy for those at risk of hunger, Capital Area Food Bank programs nourish and empower individuals, families, and the community.
Advocacy and Community Outreach programs educate and inform partner agencies, their clients, and the general public about the issues of poverty and hunger.
Agency Relations is the front door of the food bank. We serve over 700 member agencies each year by enrolling them in CAFB initiatives that reach clients with food, nutrition education, advocacy, and outreach. Agency Membership provides access to donated food and other items for area non-profit organizations to use in their food distribution programs.
Food for Kids programs invest in the lives of children at risk of hunger in the metropolitain area by providing nutritious food and access to nutrition education.
Harvest for Health addresses the social injustices of hunger and malnutrition by connecting the community to healthy food; educating about the relationship between our food system, health and the environment; and teaching adults and children gardening and cooking skills to provide alternative means of accessing food.
Nutrition Education programs for adults and children provide a skill-based approach to cooking, nutrition, and meal planning so that eating healthy is practical, delicious, and affordable. Under the guidance of a Registered Dietician, obesity and other food-related health issues are addressed through interactive classes, cooking, and food demonstrations.
