Volunteers are at the core of what makes Cooking Matters so successful. Cooking Matters brings together local culinary and nutrition professionals and others who volunteer their time to lead hands-on courses that give participants the know-how to select tasty and low-cost ingredients, stretch them across multiple meals, and use healthy cooking techniques and recipes that help them provide the best nourishment possible to their families.
As a volunteer with Cooking Matters you will have the opportunity to work with other passionate volunteers as a course team composed of a Nutrition Instructor, Culinary Instructor, and Class Assistant.
The Culinary Instructor serves as a teacher and role model, teaching key skills and inspiring participants to cook more healthy, inexpensive meals at home.
The Nutrition Instructor serves as a teacher and role model reinforcing key messages about healthy eating and inspiring participants to adopt healthy eating habits.
The Class Assistants work to assist both the Culinary Instructor and Nutrition Instructor in ensuring that each class runs smoothly so that participants receive the highest quality learning experience.
