The food bank offers specialized workshops to support partner agencies in better meeting the needs of their community.
Partner agencies are encouraged to turn knowledge into action by attending any of the 40 free workshops available through the food bank’s Agency Achievement Academy. Agency Achievement Academy workshops are specially designed to inform and empower partner agencies to increase their capacity to meet community needs. Workshop topics include fundraising, volunteer management, food growing, and health promotion.
Capacity building workshops are frequently administered in our Mildred J. Brooks Learning Center, a training kitchen, and nearly one acre Urban Demonstration Garden.
The food bank also plays a key role in training its partners on SNAP outreach activities to increase the number of emergency food recipients certified to receive SNAP benefits.
The Capital Area Food Bank Hunger Summit provides food bank partner agencies, volunteers, and friends with opportunities to learn new ideas and share best practices around addressing hunger needs.
Recipes are key tools in supporting healthier lifestyles by providing people with a selection of inexpensive, quick-to-prepare meal options. The Capital Area Food Bank’s Recipes from the CAFB Kitchen and “Recipes on the Run” contain low-sodium, low-sugar meal options everyone will enjoy.
