Overview of the Program: The Ambassador Volunteer program utilizes the skills and talent of our volunteers for more than packing and sorting in the CAFB warehouses. Based on their skills, these volunteers are assigned to a department within the food bank to work on a specific project. Current Needs: Below is a list of available opportunities listed by department. Please click on the job title for a description on the volunteer activity.
Advocacy: Perform food stamp outreach and education at special events and community fairs.

Agency Relations: Lead workshops for our partner agencies, assist with food distributions, and more.

- Social Media Assistant
Development: Assist the development department with database entry and other administrative needs.
Harvest for Health: Become a volunteer gardener at Clagett Farm or work in the office organizing recipes & performing data entry.
Kids Cafe: Pack food in the VA warehouse during the week for the Kids Cafe program.
Marketing: Help promote CAFB events or volunteer with our social media campaign.
Nutrition Education: Volunteer as a chef, nutritionist, or class assistant with Operation Frontline for a 6-week class series, leading cooking demos for our partner agencies, or represent the Nutrition Education department in the community.

Programs: Assist the Programs department with large-scale projects and cross-cutting needs.

How to Sign Up: To sign up for an Ambassador Volunteer position, please complete this form and return it to volunteer@capitalareafoodbank.org.
Once we receive your form, we will work with you to place you with a department to volunteer on an ongoing basis. Volunteer hours vary based on department and volunteer role. Training and orientation will be provided for Ambassador Volunteers by the respective department. We ask that these volunteers commit to volunteering regularly, meaning a regularly scheduled time slot that is mutually beneficial.
