Calling All Volunteers — February/March

kids-packingFebruary is in full swing, but there are still opportunities to volunteer with Capital Area Food Bank this month. Here are six ways you can make a difference:

Volunteer Opportunities

  1. Empty Bowls Bethesda

    Empty Bowls is an international grassroots program encouraging local artists and organizations to work together to raise hunger awareness and help feed those who are hungry in their own communities.
    Need: Volunteers to serve in various roles to help make the event a success!
    Date: Thursday, February 26
    Time: 8:30am-3:00pm (various shifts available)
    Location: 7719 Wisconsin Avenue, Bethesda, MD 20814

  2. Cooking Matters

    Class Assistant
    Date: Varies, 3 hours per week for six weeks
    Location:Varies across the CAFB service area

    Nutrition Instructor
    Date: Varies, 3 hours per week for six weeks
    Location: Varies across the CAFB service area

    Culinary Instructor
    Date: Varies, 3 hours per week for six weeks
    Location: Varies across the CAFB service area

    As many of the clients speak Spanish, bilingual volunteers are encouraged to register.

  3. Community Marketplace

  4. Need: 45 volunteers per site

Food & Fund Drives

  1. Organize a food & fund drive.

    Why: Food donations decrease dramatically in the summer months, despite an increase in need, particularly among children. To get started, click here.
